History
The origin of name came from the Roman general "Arcantius", its name of inhabitants are Arcantois.
The commune entered the florist period, notably on usage on thermal source by the château de la Vallée west of Archingeay and was renamed under the therapeutic properties (digestive disease, etc.). Between other persons, the Roman general Arcantius.
