Apollodorus (runner)

Apollodorus (runner)

Apollodorus (~ 1st century) was an unlucky ancient Macedonian runner who although won in Olympics he was killed by thunder on his way back home. He is commemorated by Antipater of Thessalonica in the below epigram.

Every year the "Road of Apollodoros" (Δρόμος Απολλοδώρου) is organized in modern Aiani and Veria (Greece).
