9915 Potanin is a C-type main belt asteroid. It orbits the Sun once every 5.05 years. [cite web|url = http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi?sstr=9915|title = 9915 Potanin (1977 RD2)|work = JPL Small-Body Database Browser|publisher = NASA/JPL|accessdate = 2008-02-01]

Discovered on September 8, 1977 by Nikolai Chernykh, it was given the provisional designation "mp|1977 RD|2". It was later renamed "Potanin" after Grigorij Potanin, a Russian explorer of Siberia. [MPC 42359 "Minor Planet Center"]
