BTC-T Peugeot 307

BTC-T Peugeot 307

After two seasons of running the big and heavy Peugeot 406 Coupe, Vic Lee Racing (VLR) entered a new car in the BTCC. Designed by renowned Formula One designer Sergio Rinland, the Peugeot 307 was the second BTC Touring spec car built by the Coventry-based firm. As they were a private effort, the cars were converted from roadcars, with the second car originally being a Hertz rental vehicle! After burning the midnight oil, both cars were ready for the first rounds of 2003 at Mondello Park. In the hands of Dan Eaves, Carl Breeze and Daniel Buxton, the 307 took a while to show it's true potential, but come mid-season, Eaves had taken several independent wins and the signs were looking good for 2004, until Eaves moved to Team Dynamics, taking the Halfords sponsorship with him. The Eaves car did make a couple of sporadic outings in the next few years, but it really was a case of unfulfilled potential for the 307.
