Horsens Municipality

Horsens Municipality

Its mayor is Jan Trøjborg, a member of the Social Democrats ("Socialdemokraterne") political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the city of Horsens.

The municipality was created in 1970 due to a "kommunalreform" ("Municipal Reform") that combined the city of Horsens with a number of existing parishes:

* Hatting Parish
* Kloster Parish
* Lundum Parish
* Nebel Parish
* Sønderbro Parish
* Tamdrup Parish
* Torsted Parish
* Tyrsted Parish
* Uth Parish
* Vær Parish

On January 1, 2007 Horsens municipality was, as the result of "Kommunalreformen" ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), merged with existing Brædstrup (except for Voerladegård Parish) and Gedved municipalities to form a new Horsens municipality.
