Kaneaster Hodges, Jr.

Kaneaster Hodges, Jr.

Kaneaster Hodges, Jr. (born August 20, 1938) served as a Democratic United States Senator from the U.S. State of Arkansas.

Hodges was born in Newport, Arkansas and graduated from Princeton University. He married the former Lindley Williams, also of Newport.

Hodges was the prosecuting attorney for Newport from 1967 to 1974.

On December 10, 1977, Governor David Pryor appointed Hodges to serve out the remainder of John Little McClellan's term after the death of McClellan. Under Arkansas law, an appointed Senator such as Hodges was not allowed to run for the Senate for a full term. Hodges stepped down at the end of his term in 1979. Ironically he was replaced in the Senate by David Pryor the man who had appointed him there.

Senator Hodges currently resides in the "Golf Course" neighborhood of hometown Newport, Arkansas.
