Edmonton is a borough constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament(MP) by the first past the post system of election.

Boundaries

Generally a good area for Labour since World War II, it was gained narrowly, and surprisingly, by the Tories in 1983. They had a much increased majority in 1987 before winning it sparsely in 1992. It has had safe Labour majorities since 1997; this is probably their best area within the London Borough of Enfield.

Members of Parliament

Ross McWhirter, co-founder of the "Guinness Book of Records", contested the seat for the Conservatives in the 1964 general election.
