Ryan is the current President and Chief Executive Officer of CVS/Caremark Corporation. Ryan began working for CVS in 1978 and holds a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island. Ryan also serves on the Board of Directors of several other companies including Bank of America and Yum! Brands.

The 7,657-seat Ryan Center arena on the URI campus is named for Ryan, who was the arena's principal donor.
