hq_city = Exton, PennsylvaniaThe Tioga Central Railroad is a heritage railroad operating on a portion of the Wellsboro and Corning Railroad. It operates north from Wellsboro, Pennsylvania during the tourist season, which lasts from June to October. Trains leave from the Junction Saturdays at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Weekday trains are scheduled as needed. Special trains such as the All American Barbeque train, Lake Shore Twilight, Ice Cream Express, and July 4th Fireworks train are another way to enjoy all of the beautiful scenery in Tioga County. Saturday and Sunday trips are an hour and a half round trip, stopping at the beautiful Lake Hammond. Do not forget the cameras and look out for some amazing wildlife. Osprey, deer, black bear, and bald eagles are just some of the majestic animals you will see along the way. Sit inside in the air conditioning or step onto our open air car and enjoy the sights and sounds from an outdoor perspective. Vintage 1940s and 50s rail cars will bring back old memories and create new ones that the whole family can share.

Locomotives

*Tioga Central 14--An ALCO S-2. Built in 1947 in Schenectady, NY. #14 is a turbo-charged 6 cylinder, 1000 horepower, 539 motor unit with Blunt trucks and friction bearings. It was acquired by the Tioga Central Railroad in 1984 and is an active locomotive.
*Tioga Central 47--An ALCO RS-1. Built in 1945 for Washington Terminal Company. Became Amtrack #47 in 1984. Purchased by Tioga Central Railroad in 1986. Stored out of service, needs friction bearings, other repairs and restorations being considered to bring engine back into service.
*Tioga Central 62--An ALCO RS-1. Built in 1950, is a turbo-charged 6 cylinder, 1000 horsepower unit with friction bearing trucks. First used on the Washington Union Terminal Railroad in Washington, DC. Purchased for service by the Wellsboro & Corning Railroad in 2007, and is an active locomotive.
*Tioga Central 240--An ALCO RS-1. Stored out of service.
*Tioga Central 506--An ALCO RS-3. First built as an ALCO RS3 for the Delaware & Hudson RR in 1952. Rebuilt in 1975 as an RS3U with a 2000 horsepower, turbo-charged V-12 cylinder unit with 26 brakes, dynamic brakes and GG bearings. Acquired by the Tioga Central Railroad in 1989 and renumbered #506. It is an active locomotive.
