August 19, 2008.] The band recorded the album in Henley and Rich Warren worked with them on the studio. It was announced in February 2008 by James Walsh that the album was finished and that the band is mixing the album on a studio in Chiswick called Sofa Lounge". Walsh, James. [http://forums.starsailor.net/viewtopic.php?t=7985 A busy summer schedule ahead] "Starsailor.net| Starsailor official Message board". Accessed February 9, 2008.] They're else putting the "finishing touches to a busy summer schedule".

Album Number Four finds Starsailor seven years into the recording contract which picked the band up playing various north west towns and introduced them to the world. Starsailor has worked with Steve Osborne who has preavously worked with them for the release of their debut album Love Is Here and with engineer Dan Austin who is also working with Doves at the same time. Most of the information about the release of the album has been taken from the messages written by James in the band's Myspace.

Accourding to The Sun, Ronnie Wood from The Rolling Stones had agreed to work with the band on their new album after an approuch with lead singer James Walsh. [http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/article1093565.ece Rolling Stone Sails in to help] "thesun.co.uk| The Sun, Showbiz". Published April 26, 2008 Accessed April 28, 2008.] James has said to The Sun: “We thought we may as well ask. We expected he’d be too busy but he agreed. He said he liked our stuff and came in for the week. It was amazing.”

Album Style and direction

According to the band messages Starsailor's new album would be a mixture between their heavier side and the romantic side shown in their previous albums.

"However Im sure a lot of fans will be excited by the following "It's closer in spirit to the first album - it's got real soul to it. We've gone more for the emotional, tugging at the heartstrings approach. We went off on a bit of a rock tangent on the last album It was good fun but it's time to get back to our roots" has said James Walsh in an interview to the digital newspaper Scotsman.com.

On March 21 2008 James Walsh wrote:

There has been an emphasis on strong melodies and simple arrangements for this album and the guitar playing of Richard Warren has definitely enhanced the sound. I'm not one for slagging off the last album and saying this one is 100 times better because the last album definitely had its merits. However we have spent a lot longer writing and recording this one and the result is the perfect companion to 'Love Is Here.’

According to Manchester Evening News there isn't a particular theme to the new Starsailor's forthcoming album but "married life and international politics are some of the key ingredients" and musically there will be a "lot of soul to the new album. "We've tried to write classic songs" said James"

Songs

On September 28 2007 Manchester Evening News revealed that at that point of the recording of the album Starsailor had sixteen songs.

However Starsailor has revealed some of the possible names of the tracks of the new record on their official message board. The songs called "Tell me it's not over", "Boy in waiting" and "All the plans we made" has been played since 2007 in almost every Starsailor performance. Release Date

Initially announced by James Walsh in an exclusive phone interview to Spin.com, the album will hopefully "drop in September-or as soon as reconfiguring label EMI assigns it a release date". Walsh, James. [http://www.spin.com/articles/exclusive-new-starsailor-album-nearly-finished] New Starsalior Album Nearly Finished] "Spin.com". August 19, 2008.] According to Walsh, the band felt frustrated after the decision taken by EMI of postponing the release date of the album six months. Frontman James Walsh said: "It's funny, because I was reading Lily Allen's comments about EMI delaying her album and it made me laugh because we're in a very similar situation. "We're waiting for EMI to give us a release date as well, but it's looking like January for the single and February for the album." On the other hand, an EMI spokesperson said: "The band are just doing some mixing and then release dates will be confirmed" Walsh, James. Accessed August 21, 2008.] Some days later, frontman James Walsh expressed a more positive opinion about the album delay: "Usually we deliver the album really quickly, and then we sit around and think, maybe we could have made the album better (...) With this one, we just can't let go of it. We need it to be released and be taken off our hands. We have stopped messing with it, it is pretty good" Walsh, James.
