Kathleen Byerly

Kathleen M. Byerly (born ca. 1944) is a best known for being one of the first women named by "Time" magazine Time Person of the Year in 1975. Byerly was in the first female officer in the United States Navy to be appointed flag secretary and aide to an admiral.

Byerly graduated from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1966. Following graduation, she joined the U.S. Navy. In 1975 she held the rank of Lieutenant Commander and was a Navy executive and aide to Rear Admiral Allen Hill.
