Worthington Lakes

Worthington Lakes

Worthington Lakes is a series of three reservoirs situated near to Standish between Wigan and Chorley. They were constructed in the early 1880s to provide the water demands of the rapidly industrialising North west of Britain.

The water supply comes from a diversion of the River Douglas. The lakes, which are now in the ownership of United Utilities are used for informal recreation and for angling. [http://www.unitedutilities.com/?OBH=445&ID=4126]
