The Great Unraveling (band)

The Great Unraveling (band)

The Great Unraveling was an art-punk band from Baltimore, Md. The original members were Tonie Joy(Moss Icon, Universal Order Of Armageddon, Lava, Convocation), Anthony Malat(Lovelife,U.O.A., Sinner's Saint's clothing line)and Randy Davis(Uniform, John Merrick). The band was active from 1995-1997; forming from the ashes of a somewhat very influential band called Universal Order of Armageddon. Because of the success of "U.O.A.",they quickly gained a small but devoted national fan base. Soon enough they found themselves touring around the country and being asked by various indie labels to release records. First it was a 7" record on Vermiform Records (which apparently sold 1000 copies in one week) and then Olympia Washington based label Kill Rock Stars wanted to release a full length album. They would eventually indeed release a full-length l.p. on K.R.S. During this time the band rehearsed new songs in a house that Tonie Joy purchased in a remote rural part of Maryland. Apparently, whenever they would rehearse the song "wellless" strange looking witches (perhaps ghosts) would appear on a swing-set, deep in the woods, in back of the house and swing along to Anthony's eerie bassline. Unfortunately, the band ended up breaking up shortly after the K.R.S. release do to their own personal demons and "ghosts". The last show they played was at the Ottobar in Baltimore, Maryland during which the bass player (Malat) very fittingly smashed his bass guitar into pieces until there was dead silence.
