Whitechapel is an American deathcore band from Knoxville, Tennessee.

History

Whitechapel was formed in February of 2006 by Phil Bozeman, Brandon Cagle, and Ben Savage. Shortly after the idea of the band was formed the remaining members Alex Wade (formerly of [http://www.myspace.com/thisisrenaissance This Is Renaissance] in which he and fellow Whitechapel guitarist, Zach Householder previously played for), Gabe Crisp, and Derek Martin were added to the line up, and recorded their first demos in March of that year. They named themselves after the area of London known as Whitechapel, the location of the Jack the Ripper murders. Allmusic.] In 2007 the band signed to Siege of Amida Records in the U.K. and Candlelight Records in North America, who jointly released their debut full-length, "The Somatic Defilement", in June of that year.
