Signy Research Station

The Signy Research Station , run by the British Antarctic Survey, is located on "Signy island" at coordinates coord|60.72|S|45.6|W Built in 1947 as a meteorological station, it was the second research base on the South Orkney Islands islands (after the Argentine Orcadas Base in 1903). In 1963 it was turned into a laboratory for biological research.

The station currently functions from November to April (South hemisphere summer) and has four buildings with capacity for up to 10 people.
