Society of Vacuum Coaters

Society of Vacuum Coaters

The Society of Vacuum Coaters (SVC) is an non-profit, professional association of individuals who are interested in the fundamental science and applications of vacuum coating on an industrial scale. [50 Years of Vacuum Coating Technology and the Growth of the Society of Vacuum Coaters, edited by Donald M. Mattox and Vivienne Harwood Mattox, SVC Publications (2007) ISBN 978-1-878068-27-9]

SVC Mission Statement: "The mission of the SVC is to foster technical excellence by providing a global forum to inform and educate the members, the technical community, and the public on all aspects of vacuum coating, surface engineering, and related topics." [http://www.svc.org/AboutSVC/AboutSVC.html Mission statement]

The society was fouded in 1957 and has a fifty year history with a rapidly growing engineering technology field. The society hosts an annual meeting, offers short courses and other educational opportunities and publishes a variety of books and technical guides.
