Usage of this term is for the most part in good humour, though it also appears in serious criticism. [cite journal

["During a Feller lecture, the hearer was made to feel privy to some wondrous secret, one that often vanished by magic as he walked out of the classroom at the end of the period. Like many great teachers, Feller was a bit of a con man." cite book|title=Indiscrete Thoughts|author=Gian-Carlo Rota |id=ISBN 0-8176-3866-0|publisher=Birkhäuser |location=Boston |url=http://www.lapasserelle.com/escem/finance1/02_probabilities/william_feller.htm|date=1996]References
