Peristeri BC Athens or Gymnastikos Syllogos Peristeriou BC is a Greek professional basketball club that was founded on October 22nd, 1971. The club is located in Peristeri, Greece, which is a suburban municipality of the city of Athens. The team competes in the Greek League's A2 Ethniki division.

Club History

In 1983, Peristeri Athens won the first place of the second division of the pro Greek A League the A2 Ethniki. In 1989, Peristeri again won the A2 Ethniki Division Championship, for the first time while competing under the Greek League's current competition format. In the following season of 1989-1990, Peristeri BC fought contests for the first time in the Greek A1 League.

In the subsequent years in that era, the team was very successful and many well-known basketball players played for the club. During this era, Peristeri BC competed in the Korać Cup 7 times (in the years 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998 and 2000). Well-known players such as Aggelos Koronios, Michalis Pelekanos and Alphonso Ford played for the club in this era.

In 2001, led by the great scorer Ford, Peristeri BC finished in second place in the Greek League in the regular season. The club competed in the Euroleague 2000-01 and the Euroleague 2001-02. In 2003 Peristeri BC competed in the FIBA Champions' Cup. In the year 2004 the club battled in the EuroCup League.

Following the 2003-2004 season, Peristeri was downgraded to the Greek basketball B League due to great financial troubles within the sports club. For the 2007-2008 season, Peristeri Athens returned to the A2 Ethniki after finishing in second place in the Greek B League in the 2006-2007 season. Cezary Trybanski signed with the team for the 2007-2008 season.
