Victor Adam Newman, Jr. is a fictional character from the American soap opera "The Young and the Restless". Chris Engen originated the adult role on February 12, 2008.

Character

Victor Adam Newman, Jr., grew up as Victor Adam Wilson (due to stepfather Cliff Wilson, whom he believed was his biological father at one time) is the son of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and his late former wife, Hope Adams (Signy Coleman). Adam was raised by his mother and didn't even realize Victor was his father, due to her not wanting him to be raised with the Newman influences. When Adam was 27, Hope discovered that she had terminal pancreatic cancer. With both Victor and Adam by her bedside, Hope told Adam that Victor was his father. Adam had always believed that Cliff Wilson was his father and didn't want to believe that Victor could just abandon his child for his whole life. His mother's last wish was for them to be reconnected before she passed away with Adam and Victor at her bedside.

After her passing, Victor gave Adam an offer to come back to Genoa City with him and work at Newman Enterprises. After Hope's funeral, Adam contemplated selling the farm, which Victor offered to buy in order to keep it in the family. Determined to abide by Hope's wishes and his own desire to get to know his other son, Victor still offered the job to Adam with no strings attached to either offer. He gave Adam ample time to think about it. Adam decided to quit his job in New York and headed to Genoa City to work at Newman with Victor.

Adam went to work at his new job at Newman Enterprises after sneaking in a conference call while Victor was talking about oil investments, thus surprising him with his entrance. Adam got to know the employees at Newman and got acquainted with company policies virtually overnight. Victor gave him a room at the Genoa City Athletic Club, him having turned down a room closer to Victor, and Adam accepted the club suite on the non-negotiable terms that he pay his own way. At his first club visit, he met Phyllis Newman (Michelle Stafford) (unaware that she was his sister-in-law, who also worked at Newman) and decided to get to know her better, though he backed down after she showed him her wedding ring.

Adam got to know the company a little more in detail, after going through the company's history and finance reports. He met Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John), who was surprised to see a new face so soon. Adam had an awkward first meeting with Victor's daughter (Adam's half-sister) Victoria (Amelia Heinle). They talked and he found out that Victoria, her mother Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and her brother Nick (Joshua Morrow) blame Adam and Hope for destroying their family. He explained to Victoria that all he was there for was the job - nothing more.

Adam continued talking to Phyllis about their workout schedules and culinary weaknesses. Afterwards, Adam, after looking at the sub-par finances, decided to work on the new Beauty line by Newman Enterprises with Victoria, the head supervisor of the endeavor. Victor told Adam to help her with the line, which was failing. She somewhat grudgingly accepted his help. Adam met Victoria's husband J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) and their son Reed, and was surprisingly happy to see and learn that he had a nephew. Adam questioned Victor's motives for giving him a job when after meeting Nick, he discovered that Victor fired his own son. Adam was reassured that he will not fall into the same trap. Victor having redone the Beauty of Nature line, has been switched to take over mergers and acquisitions at Newman Enterprises. After returning from a brief trip to New York, he had a brief relationship with Skye Lockhart (Laura Stone) his Harvard classmate, who leaves town after only a couple of days who came into town to see him.

Victoria, fed up with Victor's constant attention to Adam and her change of position to fit Adam's alleged needs, quit the company, and Victor asked Adam to move into Victoria's office. Adam, although reluctantly, accepted the offer. Soon, Victor asked Adam to come live with him at the Newman Ranch, which he did. At the gym, when they were representing opposing companies in a patent lawsuit, he met Heather Stevens, with whom he immediately had sexual chemistry with, which quickly grew into a deeper relationship. He is still currently dating Heather Stevens, to the dismay of his father. Adam, after having a flashback of Victor coming to the Kansas ranch when he was a little boy, decided to take his rightful name Victor Adam Newman, Jr. Since Victor's absence, Adam has decided to rule both the ranch and take over his father's position in the company in his absence because he believes this is what his father would want. Victoria, Nick, Nikki and Neil all want to oust him from his self-appointed pedestal. Recently, he has been speaking his mind to both past and present Newman family members, chastizing them concerning their reactions to the current events that have affected the family. This has prompted violent emotional, and even physical, responses from Nicholas and Victoria.

After his father was purported as dead, Adam forcibly took control of Newman, as per his father's will. One of his first actions as the new head of Newman was to fire althought who questioned his actions (Neil, Victoria and Karen), as well as do away with old company policies. Heather Stevens seems to be his most staunch supporter at late. He recently appointed Brad Carlton as the new CEO of Newman Enterprises and moved Heather to the ranch with him. Victor returned to the Newman ranch just as Adam and Heather were making out on the couch, obviously upset at Adam. He walked past a half-unbuttoned Adam without saying anything. Victor reinstated Neil Winters at Newman Enterprises as CEO and severely criticized Adam for firing Neil stating that Adam "learned very little" in the months he spent in Genoa City and that Adam couldn't see past his father's wealth and power. Adam's excuse was that he was grieving and thought that was what Victor would have wanted. Victor easily saw through Adam's attempts at self-validation and continued criticizing his son's actions. Finally Victor fired Adam, calling him "Adam Wilson", after Adam started taking his birth name Victor Adam Newman, stating what Adam did to Victoria, Nick, Neil, and Victor's dog Zapato showed Victor what Adam's character is made of. Victor then proceeded to fire a remorseful-sounding Adam from Newman Enterprises and kick him off of the Newman ranch. Adam quickly walked out of the house without saying a word to Nick, Victoria, or Michael Baldwin. At Crison Lights Adam told his girlfriend Heather Stevens that he hated the fact that Nick was right about their father when Nick and Adam first met.

Currently Adam and Jack have begun to plot against Victor and possibly takeover Newman Enterprises from Victor, Victoria and Neil. Details about their plan have yet to be reveal but is it suggested that it involves Jack's return into Jabot Cosmetics being controlled by the Abbott family and Gloria.
