Achebe is a fictional character that has appeared in various comic books published by Marvel Comics. Primarily an enemy of the Black Panther, the character exists within Marvel's main shared universe, known as the Marvel Universe. He first appeared in "Black Panther" #3, but was mentioned before that in "Black Panther" #2.

Fictional character biography

While a poor farmer somewhere in South Africa, Achebe sold his soul to the demon Mephisto. Becoming a brilliant mind and scholar, Achebe made close ties with Wandaka, the home of T'Challa (Black Panther), who restricted the man from entering the kingdom. Achebe made desperate tries to invade the land, and finally made makeshift camps along with several other refugees from a Ghudaza war. T'Challa accepted the outsiders, seeing it as a chance to draw his enemies into the open. Achebe, with his minions, lured T'Challa to America. When he forced Mephisto to cut Achebe loose of his troubles, the man's insanity only worsened. Taking advice from his hand puppet, Achebe made several attempts to take over the Wandaka kingdom, the most successful (but not completely) was creating "Prowler" robots to disguise as citizens, making it ever more surprising when the machine invaded the T'Challa's palace. Achebe and the Black Panther fought for the last time, before Achebe was banished from civilization and went into hiding.

Powers and abilities

Blessed by Mephisto, Achebe is a brilliant schemer, strategist, and planner, which is only weakened by his extreme insanity. Achebe is also a skilled acrobat and has exceptional agility. Because of his mental problems, Achebe is considered to be a very dangerous leader.

Name

Achebe is named for African author Chinua Achebe.
