Seltzer is a census-designated place (CDP) in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 307 at the 2000 census. Seltzer is located in Norwegian Township.

Geography

Seltzer is located at coor dms|40|41|47|N|76|14|8|W|city (40.696252, -76.235543)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 307 people, 129 households, and 82 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 4,434.8 people per square mile (1,693.3/km²). There were 137 housing units at an average density of 1,979.0/sq mi (755.7/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 100.00% White.

There were 129 households out of which 20.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.7% were married couples living together, 7.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.7% were non-families. 31.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 3.05.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 17.3% under the age of 18, 4.6% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 31.3% from 45 to 64, and 20.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 47 years. For every 100 females there were 82.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.8 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $33,438, and the median income for a family was $38,438. Males had a median income of $33,000 versus $22,250 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $20,422. None of the population or families were below the poverty line.
