History

WLHK began operation as WSVL-FM in Shelbyville. Jeff Smulyan (along with two business partners) purchased WSVL-FM in 1979 as the first radio station owned by Emmis Communications. The call letters were changed to WENS on July 4, 1981. WENS was a light rock or adult contemporary station before the changeover to Hank FM (Country) in March 2005.
