About the School

Goldey-Beacom College is a small college located in the heart of Pike Creek Valley that offers the of business education to its students. Its yearly enrollment consists primarily of international and local students.

The College traces its origins to September 1, 1886, when business educator Mr. Goldey opened the Wilmington Commercial College with only five students. In 1900, one of Goldey's best instructors, W.H. Beacom parted ways opening his own school, only blocks away. By 1929, the re-named Beacom College had an enrollment over 1000, and for four decades the two engaged in fierce competition. In 1951, the two entities merged, giving rise to today's Goldey-Beacom College. In 1974, the College relocated from its landlocked downtown Wilmington location to the present suburban Pike Creek campus.

The College was first accredited by the Middle States Association in 1976, and has offered baccalaureate degrees since 1978. In 1992, Goldey-Beacom established its first MBA program, which today thrives with over 300 students. In 2007, the College completed the rigorous self-study process for The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), and was awarded full ten-year accreditation as a school of business to offer the bachelors and masters degrees--recognition earned by few of the nation's business programs.

Today, Goldey-Beacom College offers undergraduate degrees in accounting, finance, human resource management, management, international business, computer information systems, and marketing.
