Club career
Gunnarsson began his career in Þór Akureyri (Iceland) Before he went to the Netherlands with AZ making one full apperance in the 2007-2008 season. He moved to English side Coventry City in June 2008 at the age of 19. He is renowned for his long throw - he provided the long throw from which Scott Dann scored in the 3-2 Carling Cup loss to Newcastle - a remnant from his career as a youth playing handball.
