Fairburn is a town in Custer County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 80 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Fairburn is located at coor dms|43|41|12|N|103|12|39|W|city (43.686613, -103.210797)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.9 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 80 people, 34 households, and 22 families residing in the town. The population density was 242.9 people per square mile (93.6/km²). There were 41 housing units at an average density of 124.5/sq mi (48.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.75% White and 1.25% African American.

There were 34 households out of which 32.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.9% were married couples living together, 5.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.4% were non-families. 29.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.35 and the average family size was 2.96.

In the town the population was spread out with 23.8% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 17.5% who were 65 years of age or older.
