Summary

York Housing Association is an independent, not-for-profit Housing association based in York and operating in all parts of Yorkshire. Established in 1964, the Association now provides a range of housing and support services to over 600 households in York and the surrounding areas. It has over 500 properties in the Yorkshire & Humber region.

Its housing is a mixture of general needs accommodation for single people, couples and families, sheltered housing accommodation for older people and supported housing for vulnerable people with support needs, people with mental ill health and people with learning disabilities. Where high levels of support are needed, the Association works with managing agents who provide these more specialist services to our tenants. The Association also provides housing for students, working in conjunction with the University of York. Schemes at Rothwell in Leeds bringing the whole community together to build a hedgerow which now forms the boundary fence and at Fieldside Place in York, providing a sustainable housing to encourage tenants to live together in an environmentally friendly spaces are just a few examples demonstrating how the Association is working with neighbourhoods.

York Housing Association is committed to iN Business for Neighbourhoods. It was one of the first 100 organisations to adopt this initiative and strives to incorporate the principles set out.
