MCW Metroliner

MCW Metroliner

The MCW Metroliner was a coach built by Metro Cammell Weymann (MCW) in the 1980s. The Metroliner was available as a standard single deck coach [ [http://nationalexpress.fotopic.net/p17307467.html Image of a single deack Metroliner] ] , or the more numerous and striking multi-axle double-deck coach.

The Metroliner saw service in the UK with long distance coach operators such as the nationalised National Express Coaches [ [http://home.clara.net/mpjohnson/qc138yjt.jpgImage of a National Express Metroliner] ] for their "Rapide" operation, and Scottish Citylink, as well as other independent operators such as the "Clipper" service of the Armstrong Galley coach division of Busways [ [http://www.transportimages.com/gallery/v/buses/ukprevious/Armstrong-Galley/amstronggalley.jpg.html Image of an Armstrong Galley Clipper Metroliner] ] .

It also saw operation with commuter coach operations, such as the short-lived "Kentish Express" of Kentish Bus [ [http://www.showbus.co.uk/A/Atji1690.jpgImage of a Kentish Express Metroliner] ] , Alder Valley [ [http://www.adbig.co.uk/aldervalley/images/avc2.jpgImage of an Alder Valley single deck Metroliner] ] and the Oxford Bus Companys "Oxford Citylink" [ [http://www.oxford-chiltern-bus-page.co.uk/upload301005/COMS%20Citylink%20906%20r190%20Ian%20White.jpgImage of an Oxford Citylink Metroliner] ] .

After retiring from coaching duties, due to their stylish appearance and long length, many double-deck Metroliners were converted to open-top buses by Ensign bus, for use on their London Pride Sightseeing operation, latterly passing to The Original Tour. Metroliners also found use on standard long distance bus route, and various private hire and non-PSV uses.
