Jimmy Nicholl

James Michael "Jimmy" Nicholl (born February 28, 1956 in Hamilton, Ontario) is a Canadian-born Northern Irish former footballer and, later, a manager.cite web| title = Northern Ireland Footballing Greats: Jimmy Nicholl| url=http://nifootball.blogspot.com/2007/04/jimmy-nicholl.html| accessdate = 2008-01-15]

Nicholl won a total of 73 international caps for Northern Ireland, scoring once. He was mainly a right-back but could also play in other defensive roles.

Nicholl started his career as a junior player at Manchester United. His senior career started in 1974. He helped the club win the 1977 FA Cup Final and collected a runners-up medal in the 1979 final.

In 1981, he left the club after scoring five goals and played for a variety of teams:

* Sunderland (1981-1982; loan) and (1982-1984); (32 league appearances)
* Toronto Blizzard (1982-1984) 77 Appearances and 11 goals
* Rangers (1983-84) and (1988-89) (106 appearances)
* West Bromwich Albion (1984-1986); (56 league appearances)
* Dunfermline Athletic
* Raith Rovers

Nicholl is currently the assistant manager of Aberdeen, working with Jimmy Calderwood. Previously he was manager of Millwall and Raith Rovers when the latter won the Scottish League Cup on November 27 1994 and qualified for the UEFA Cup in 1995-96, where they were eliminated by Bayern Munich in the second round.
