History

Redwater is twelve miles southwest of Texarkana in southeastern Bowie County. It grew up in the mid-1870s around a sawmill operated by two men named Daniels and Spence, who named the community Ingersoll, in honor of the agnostic Robert Ingersoll. A post office was established in 1881, and by 1884 the town had an estimated population of fifty. In 1886 a big revival meeting was held in the town, which resulted in about 110 conversions. Shortly after the meeting residents of the town, no longer wishing to honor the agnostic, decided that the name of the town should be changed. They had just completed a new well that yielded red water, and the town was renamed for this feature. The name of the post office was not officially changed until 1894. Although the population of the town swelled to an estimated 300 by 1892, by 1900 it had fallen to 128. It reached 250 in the 1920s. During World War II the Red River Army Depot and Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant were built just north of Redwater, providing thousands of jobs for county residents. The population of Redwater jumped from 250 in the early 1940s to 457 by 1950. In 1982 Redwater had a population of 460 and five rated businesses. In 1990 the population was 894.

Redwater is also home to the very first set of quadruplets in the United States.

And of which, as of this date (February 23, 2008), these provable true and factual lessons in the continued history and trivia of Redwater, Texas; It should also be duly noted and substantiated that Kenny Wayne is still the only person ever, in the complete history of not just Redwater, but in the whole county of Bowie County today. That for well over forty five (45) years has been and still is, An International and National Critically Acclaimed, Numerous Award Winning Rock N' Roll, Blues (Both Contempoary and Traditional), Americana, Roots, Country (Both New and Traditional), and Soul Music Recording Artist. He is A Lead Singer and A Hit Song Writer (All Genres), Musician, Record Producer (All Genres), and has been and still is, an active Independant Record Label and Music Publishing Company Owner/CEO since 1969!It also is a little known true fact, that it is him, and only he, himself, that has humbly been rewarded, but with too little non-noted fan fare for possessing and showcasing all of those self taught traits and self earned achevements all by himself! In all of the entire history of Bowie County! Of which the county's musicial history includes, even The Legendary World Famous Rag Time Piano Player/Composer Scott Joplin! Whom was from Texarkana, Texas. But also whom is known (A world wide fact!) to have died of Syphllis that he contacted in one of the many Houses Of Ill Repute where that he was hired to perform. Although Scott Joplin was known for writing such World Wide Classic Rag Time Piano Songs as "The Entertainer" (Which was used as a theme song in the movie "Butch Cassidy And The Sun Dance Kid") and "Soltice Parts One (#1) and Two (#2);" Not even Mr. Joplin himself, and even though today, whom is still better known, because of that one and only movie theme song; Scott Joplin never ever, has received as much, Nor as many, International and National Accolades and Accomplished Achievements as "The Rockin' Little Redwater, Texas Country Blues Boy - Kenny Wayne!" Redwater is as well, the the little known birth place of "The Original & Real Kenny Wayne." And as of this legitimate, factual and well past long over due rightful entry, of which, that is finally being added into the complete history of Redwater, Texas here today, (February 25, 2008). We are now bringing to light the unbought real truth and facts that have been overshadowded by pure hype since 1993. These honest and real true facts are presented here without the need of any such hype and without any possible doubt and are easily provable by many years of National and International printed notitority criticial acclaim, Independant Record Companies recordings and the true spoken word of mouth from the longtime citizens of not only just Redwater, Texas since 1945 to the years 2000. But as well as from the mouths of those long time citizens and long time old vinyl 45 RPM Recorded Singles and Record Albums, 8 Track and Cassette Tapes and Compact Disc buyers as well as Rare Recordings and 60's Garage Rock Memorabilia Collectors, Cults of Such and the Concerts going and Night Club attending fans of Kenny Wayne from Texarkana and the other surrrounding small towns. Such as those of Maud, Hooks, Nash, New Boston, Atlanta, Dekalb, and Linden, Texas Not to mention, those from Prescott, Nashville, Crossett, Stuttgart, Little Rock and Hope, Arkansas, and Norther Louisiana that were within hearing reach of "The KENNY WAYNE & THE KAMOTIONS WEEKLY RADIO SHOW on KOSY AM RADIO that was broadcast every Saturday evening at 3:00 PM in the late 1970's as well. Therefore, all of these legitimate true and provable little known facts outside of Redwater, Texas, most definitely belong on these pages of The Wikipedeia History Of Redwater, Texas and thus deserve to be here forever, and undeleted. Because every word printed here is the honest to God Truth, and Nothing but the Truth! Unlike all of those multiple listings placed on history blogs that were paid for as favors exchanged back to the major record company labels and their promotional staff for their expensice print ads that they bought, so that those listings and blogs will appear that their company's hype is legitimate. In other words, those multiple listings in Google, Yahoo and other cyber space informational web sites and top place listings on quick search engines does not mean that what is printed is true! It only means that the major record label company had a lot more money to spend for promotion than those names of recording artist and musicians that are much less or very little known at all. Such as is the case and one for example; like the Redwater, Texas born and raised Kenny Wayne and others just like him in other places. The ones whom has true, honest and actual facts to back up everything that has been edited onto these pages and thus is a long over due person for recognition that rightfully deserves to be here in print. Very seldom do these people ever get their rightful due; which is because of their no financial backing and unbought trade out advertisement, and not being born with the right musicial and media connections. Although all of the aforementioned ways of how others have over shadowed those less fortunate, those actual means are only just a few of the ways that others have gained better recognition. Thus, that is why that I and many others from Redwater, Texas and it's surrounding area, feel that it is about time to that we need to set the record straight! Of which that time is, right here today and now! Therefore to do so, I want to go on record as of this edit by doing so, to tell everyone that views upon these historicial fact filled pages, that this two room house born and raised poor little North East Texas country boy should have been a whole lots more famously known world wide as an all around music man than he is today. However; unfortunately because of him not being born rich and as well as being born with the right musical and media connected parent, one of whom did have such an inside advantage to afford his son such; this is exactly why that the rightfully due person that deserves as such, still virtually remains as one Redwater, Texas History's, as well as Bowie County's best kept secrets, and that of which, now, the honest truth can be finally told and printed here as it should be, and of which actually is; That "The Original and Real Kenny Wayne" is "An International Critically Acclaimed, Numerous Award Winning Rock N' Roll, Blues (Both Contempoary and Traditional), Americana, Roots, Country (Both New and Traditional), and Soul Music Recording Artist, Lead Singer (All Genres), Song Writer (All Genres), Musician (All Generes), Recording and Music Publishing Company, Owner, General Manager and CEO (Since 1969) In all of the complete history of not just Redwater, Texas, but in all of the history of Bowie County today, and what looks like, as it still stands; quite possibly the future of that tiny town and the whole county as well. Even the legendary Scott Joplin, from Texarkana, Texas and whom was a world famous Rag Time Music Piano Player and Composer of the hit song "The Entertainer," used as a movie theme song for, "Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid," and who's life style aand death was noted as a true historical fact; that Mr. Joplin died of Syphilis that he contacted in one of the many houses of Ill Repute; never received as much International and National accolades and accomplished achievements as The Rockin' Little Redwater Country Blues Boy - Kenny Wayne!"
