Key Energy Services, established in 1977, is an oilfield services company providing well services. Based in Houston, TX, Key Energy has other offices in Midland, TX and regional offices in Bakersfield, CA; Farmington, NM; Casper, WY; El Reno, OK; Lafayette and Shreveport, LA; and Arnoldsburg, WV. Key has over 175 service locations (known as “yards” or “districts”) in the US; seven in Argentina and one in Mexico (Poza Rica)..

Business Segments

Well Services
Rig-based well-servicing for workover or re-entries on existing wells, such as:
* New well completions
* PNA (Plug and Abandonment)
* Stimulation of existing wells with declining production
* Hydra-Walk(r) pipe handling system

Fluid Services
Oilfield transportation services (often referred to as “Trucking”)

Electric wireline services (EWS)
Uses specific tools and specialty equipment to acquire data on formations or status of the well.

Fishing & Rental Services (FRS)
Process to recover lost or stuck equipment in the well bore utilizing a "fishing tool” or “jar”. The FRS operations also cut windows in well sidewall casings for horizontal re-entries.

Marine Well Services
Key acquired the Moncla Companies1 in 2008 and now has seven workover barge rigs. Barge rigs are used to reach wellheads in shallow water, positioned on the well and then sink themselves on the existing pad for workover operations. Each barge has been named after a species of fish.

Pressure Pumping Services (PPS)
Provides fracing aka Hydraulic_fracturing, coiled tubing, acidizing and cementing services.

History & Notable Acquisitions

While Key Energy traces its roots to New Hope, PA, operating under the name The Yankee Companies, the company’s current name is a legacy of Yale E. Key, a West Texas oilman. Key Energy has grown through over 1002of acquisitions. The most notable ones are listed below.
