Information logistics

Information logistics, as a section of information management, deals with the flow of information within an organizational unit or between any number of organizations that in turn form a value creating network. The primary goal is the optimization of the availability and cycle time of information. With other words, information logistics is about providing

* the correct information
* at the accurate point of time
* in the correct format / quality
* for the intended recipient
* at the right location

Methodes for achieving the goal are

* the analysis of the information demand
* the optimization of the flow of information
* securing technical and organizational flexibility

The expression was formed by the Indian mathematician and librarian S. R. Ranganathan.
