Nostitz (family)

The Nostitz family are a Silesian aristocratic family, named after Nostitz in Saxony, with a history dating back to 1280.

Famous members of the family have included:

  • Helene von Nostitz, (1878–1944), writer and salon Dame
  • August Ludwig von Nostitz, (1777–1866), a Prussian general
  • Franz Anton Nostitz-Rieneck, (1725–1794), Bohemian nobleman and patron
  • Friedrich Moritz, Count Nostitz-Rieneck, (1728–1796), Bohemian noble, Habsburg Field Marshal, President of the Hofkriegsrat (Military Council).
  • Johann Nepomuk, Count Nostitz-Rieneck, (1758–1840), son of above. Field Marshal in Napoleonic Wars.
