Pakistani hip hop

Pakistani hip hop

Pakistani hip hop is mainly performed in the Urdu language and Punjabi language. Although hip hop has not taken root in Pakistan many musicians of Pakistani origin are entering the hip hop industry abroad.

Growing Hip Hip Culture

Pakistani hip hop is a blend of traditional Pakistani musical elements with hip hop music and is achieved by using various Pakistani languages, incorporating percussion (tabla, dhol etc.), other instrumentation (sitar etc.). Being a global phenomenon, is perceived differently by the major branches of the Pakistani diaspora. Pakistani Americans often adopted hip hop at an early age and made it an important aspect of their "American identity". Conversely, Pakistani Britons were first exposed to hip hop as an American export. Overseas Pakistanis have helped increase the popularity of hip hop back home in Pakistan. Some famous entertainers include Bohemia, [http://www.thedesirapper.com PakMan, Waqas Ali Qadri, [http://www.sttproductionz.com S.T.T.] , Lazarus and many others.
