Barking and Dagenham Council election, 2010

Barking and Dagenham Council election, 2010

The election will be held in May 2010 to elect members to the council.

The Labour Party will hope to retain control of the council. The main opposition party the British National Party will hope to increase their number of councillors. The Conservatives and Liberal Democrats will hope to regain the seats they lost to the BNP in 2006 as will Labour.

There is the possibility of the next general election being held on the same day which would increase turnout.

In the 2006 election, Labour won 39 seats, the BNP 11 and the Conservatives 1.
