*20 April - Paul Touvier is found guilty of ordering the execution of 7 Jews when he served in the Vichy France Milice.
*6 May - The Channel Tunnel, which took 15,000 workers over 7 years to complete, opens between England and France. Passengers can now travel between the 2 countries in 35 minutes.
