"We Break the Dawn" is a R&B/dance-pop song recorded by American singer-songwriter Michelle Williams. It was co-written by Andrew Frampton, Williams and Solange Knowles, and produced by Wayne Wilkins and Frampton for Williams' third studio album "Unexpected" (2008). Release and reception

The remix version of the song was produced by DJ Montay and features Florida rapper Flo Rida who raps in the intro and has a verse towards the end of the song.

In describing the forthcoming album, Hillary Crosley writes, "there's a clear move away from the gospel." When the song premiered on People.com, Brian Orloff posted, "It's a hot new look and new sound."

In the UK, the single was released digitally on the 22nd september but failed to make any impact. She has promoted the single and album by appearing on UK television shows such as "Loose Women". Digital Spy have made a Michelle Williams blogspot. Additionally the video is now uploaded on their website for viewing, they have also created a Michelle Williams blogspot.The video premiered on 4music on the 23rd of August.

Chart performance

In April of 2008, "We Break the Dawn" was released digitally, and physically in July of 2008. The song has currently peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay chart.

In August, 2008 the single reached the top 10 on the Brazil Hot 30 Dance Club Play and has peaked at #5. It eventually sold 35,000 copies and was certified Gold in that country. The single received some airplay in European countries, such as Poland , Finland and Sweden.fact|date=October 2008
