Born in
Saint John, New Brunswick , he was educated at theUniversity of Pennsylvania and worked atSt. Bartholomew's Hospital inLondon . In 1883 he arrived inFort Macleod and became a surgeon for theNorth-West Mounted Police .On
November 10 ,1891 Deveber sang at a concert in Lethbridge,Alberta . The concert was promoted by the Nora Clench Concert Company. In 1898 he was elected to the
Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories and was re-elected in 1902. Dr. DeVerber served in theLegislative Assembly of Alberta for theAlberta Liberal Party in the Lethbridge Provincial electoral district from 1905 to 1906. In that short time he served as a cabinet minister in theAlexander Rutherford government.In 1906 he was appointed to the
Canadian Senate . He was appointed by Prime Minister SirWilfrid Laurier and represented Lethbridge as a Liberal until his death.He died in 1925, in
Aylmer, Quebec . At the time of his death, he was married and had two children.He has a mountain named in his honor,
Mount DeVeber , situated southwest ofGrande Cache, Alberta .References
