NYFA's Programs

NYFA supports artists in New York State and nationwide through a wide range of programs including re-granting programs such as Artists Fellowships [[$7,000 unrestricted grants to artists made in 16 disciplines), the organization's signature program. Artists who were supported early on in their careers by this Fellowship include: Spike Lee[2], Julie Taymor, Andres Serrano, Junot Diaz, and hundreds of other notable visual artists, filmmakers, playwrights, sculptors, authors, architects, poets, composers, and choreographers.

Other programs include Building Up Infrastructure Levels for Dance (BUILD) grants, the New York Theater Program, and Strategic Opportunity Stipends. NYFA also has a Learning program which includes NYFA MARK, a multi-week business-of-art program for visual artists in New York State, NYFA Boot Camp for artists, and The Immigrant Artist Project, which provides Mentorship, exhibition opportunities, information, and resources to artists born outside the U.S. and newly working in NYC.

NYFA's Services

NYFA's website is home to the nation's largest online database of grants, opportunities, and services for artists, NYFA Source. Other services include Classifieds for artist spaces, jobs in the arts, and opportunities, and advocacy in the arts sphere.

NYFA Current

NYFA Current is an online magazine for and by artists, edited by Suzan Sherman.
