2000/2001 Australian Super Touring Championship

2000/2001 Australian Super Touring Championship

The 2000/2001 BOC Gases Australian Super Touring Car Championship was the eighth running of a touring car series in Australia under the Super Touring Car regulations. It began on May 28, 2000 at Oran Park Raceway and ended on February 11, 2001 at Oran Park Raceway after 17 races.

Future Touring Cars

With numbers dropping after the withdrawal of the factory supported Audi and Volvo teams the grids were bolstered with the new Future Touring Car category that had made its racing debut at the 1999 Bathurst 500. It was a new category, based on vehicles that had competed previously in AUSCAR racing. While the Future Touring Cars shared grids they competed for their own points.

Teams and drivers

The following drivers competed in the 2000/2001 Australian Super Touring Championship. The series consisted of sixteen rounds, at eight race meetings, held in four different states. The Future Touring cars competed at seven of the eight meetings, missing the Lakeside round where none had entered.
