Harold James is a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 186th District since 1989. He was defeated in the 2008 primary by Kenyatta Johnson.

He is presently the Chairman of the Gaming Oversight Committee. This committee was formed when the 2007 legislation session began. Representative James is the first chairman of the committee.

Before being elected to the House of Representatives, James served as a police officer in the City of Philadelphia.
