Cover of Irish Countrysports and Country Life Summer 2007HistoryThe Irish Hunting,Shooting and Fishing Magazine the publication's original title, was first published in April 1985 and has a number of editors including founding editor Albert Titterington, Thomas Wilkes and Emma Cowan. It was launched because Albert Titterington, one of the founders of the first major Irish Game Fair www.irishgamefair.com considered that Ireland needed its own magazine to not only cover international and UK country sports news but also to focus on particularly Irish issues. It was re-named Irish Countrysports and Country Life by Albert Titterington and Emma Cowan in 2002. Albert is the current editor. It is Ireland’s longest continuously published country sports magazine.Over the years IHS&F and ICS&CL have carried articles by the most renowned writers in the countrysports world with such noted sportsmen as Capt. Jimmy Hamilton, Major William Brownlow, John Beach, Tony Jackson, Michael Twist, Victor Mc Devitt, Albert Titterington and Simon Everett regularly contributing to the magazine.

CurrentThe magazine is active in supporting and often sponsoring all Ireland’s country sports and fishing bodies including FISSTA, NARGC, CAI, Countryside Ireland, BASC etc.

It has also taken the lead in many successful sporting campaigns and sponsoring and fund raising for virtually all kinds of sporting competition.

Its proud boast is that it published by country sports enthusiasts for country sports enthusiasts, and as such it is the legitimate voice of countrysports in Ireland.
