Spatial Correlation

In cellular systems, the performance degradation caused by multi-path fading may be reduced by applying diversity antennas at base stations (BS) to recover the signals received on uplink. But, the characteristics of the fading signals received on different antennas may be somehow correlative when the distance between antennas are constrained, thus the anticipated diversity gain may not always be obtainable.
