Jeff Cronenweth

Jeff Cronenweth, ASC (Jeffrey Scott Cronenweth; born January 14, 1962) is an American cinematographer based in Los Angeles, California who is best known for his role as the Director of Photography on the cult classic Fight Club (1999). Career

Jeff worked with father Jordan Cronenweth as a camera loader and second assistant camera during high school, [ [http://www.cinematographers.nl/PaginasDoPh/cronenweth.htm Jeff Cronenweth ] ] working his way up to first assistant camera and then camera operator until the mid-1990s. The first major motion picture where he acted as a DP was Fight Club. Other notable feature films on which he worked as a DP are One Hour Photo, , and Down With Love.

Currently, Jeff and brother Tim ("The Cronenweths") are working as a Director/DP team doing numerous commercials and music videos out of Los Angeles. Most recently, Cronenweth was the DP on the FedEx commercial "Carrier Pigeons" which aired during the 2008 Super Bowl. Jeff is known for his dim-lit, close-up, long shot filming as shown in Fight Club and many of the music videos and commercials he has worked on. As he says of Fight Club, "Whether we were inside or outside, we always wanted to keep a shallow depth of field to keep the audience focused on what we wanted them to see."
