Fox Point is a village in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 7,012 at the 2000 census.

Fox Point is located in the North Shore part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. It is named after a small point extending out into Lake Michigan. Mainly residential, Fox Point is also home to the RiverPoint Village shopping center at the far northwest end of the village.

Geography

Fox Point is located at coor dms|43|9|37|N|87|54|14|W|city (43.160409, -87.903994)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.9 square miles (7.6 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 7,012 people, 2,825 households, and 1,988 families residing in the village. The population density was 2,399.3 people per square mile (927.2/km²). There were 2,910 housing units at an average density of 995.7/sq mi (384.8/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 95.55% White, 1.21% African American, 0.11% Native American, 2.14% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.19% from other races, and 0.78% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.06% of the population.

There were 2,825 households out of which 30.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.4% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.6% were non-families. 27.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.93.

In the village the population was spread out with 23.9% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 22.9% from 25 to 44, 27.0% from 45 to 64, and 20.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 89.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.9 males. Fox Point has one of the largest Jewish populations in Wisconsin.

The public High School attended by most Fox Point residents ages 14-18 is Nicolet High School, which constantly ranks amongst one of the top Wisconsin high schools.

The median income for a household in the village was $80,572, and the median income for a family was $94,348. Males had a median income of $77,850 versus $38,500 for females. The per capita income for the village was $48,469. About 1.8% of families and 2.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 4.1% of those under age 18 and 3.8% of those age 65 or over.
