These special camps are eitherwilderness therapy programs, also known as therapeuticoutdoor education , or residential treatment centres.The show won an
International Emmy . The American version of "Brat Camp" was cancelled onAugust 24 ,2005 , but is being aired inCanada on Slice as of early 2007.It is not well known but a separate U.S. series besides the one on ABC aired on ABC Family, that contained 7 episodes. It was never re-aired, and information on it is very hard to come by.
On August 24th 2007 it was announced that the show has been axed along with shows such as Celebrity Big Brother and You are what you eat.

The fourth series, "Family Brat Camp", aired from
4 October 2006 , and brings along the parents of the four children to make them take responsibility for their kids' behaviour at the SUWS wilderness program inIdaho .Information on the ABC Family version is unknown.

The UK version of the show generated some criticism. An influential children's charity Barnardo's are concerned that the TV show sends a message to parents that a short period of tough love can resolve any problems.
