Hubert Austin

Hubert James Austin (1845–1915) was an English architect. He was the son of the Rector of Redmarshall, County Durham. His training started with his half-brother Tom, then in 1864 he transferred to the office of George Gilbert Scott. In 1868 he joined Edward Paley as a partner in his practice in Lancaster. He married Fanny Langshaw, a niece of Edward Paley's former partner Edmund Sharpe in 1870, and they had two sons and four daughters. He died in the house he designed, The Knoll, in Lancaster.
