United States presidential election in Alabama, 1964

During United States presidential election, 1964 Alabama was the only state, where Democratic Party nominee, President Lyndon B. Johnson did not appear on ballot. This was also the first time, when Republican nominee carried Alabama, a state which always voted for Democrats since Reconstruction.

Despite Johnson massive landslide victory that year (he won, to date, the highest precentage - 61.1%), he also lost to Goldwater four other states, earlier solidly Democratic - Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Georgia.
