百万智多星 (transliteration: "Bǎi Wàn Zhì Duō Xīng", English translation: "Who deserves to be a millionaire?", sometimes called "百萬富翁") is a Chinese game show based on the original British format of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?". The show is hosted by Lǐ Fán (李凡). The main goal of the game is to win ¥1,000,000 by answering 15 multiple-choice questions correctly. There are 3 "lifelines" - fifty fifty ("50:50"), phone a friend ("打電話問老友") and ask the audience ("問現場觀眾"). The game show is broadcast from 29th September 2007 to today. It is shown on the Chinese TV station GuiZhou TV (贵州电视台). When a contestant gets the fifth question correct, he will leave with at least ¥8,000. When a contestant gets the tenth question correct, he will leave with at least ¥60,000. There was one total prize winner. New episode is shown on every Saturday at 20:40 (UTC+8).

Characteristics of the Chinese version

The Mainland China version differs from all other versions of the show for the fact that it doesn't feature civil contestants taking home the money won during the game, but celebrities playing for money which is given to charity [Article on the Chinese language Wikipedia] . Translation of the name

The name of the show cannot be translated literally.
