Jiangnan Shipyard is the main shipyard of Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co. Ltd, sited at 2 Gaoxiong Rd., Shanghai, China. coord|31|11|49|N|121|28|59|E|display=inline,title|region:CN-33_type:landmark_scale:2000|display=inline,title

Its primary businesses are ships, ship building, repairs and conversions, and sales. Others include the manufacture of machinery and electrical equipment, pressure vessels and steel works for various land-based products.

History

The ship yard was established in 1865 (Tongzhi 4th year of Qing Dynasty). It was previously named "Jiangnan Machine Manufacturer", and renamed "Jiangnan Shipbuilding Works" in 1912 and "Jiangnan Shipyard" in 1949. During the latter period, it was also known in the 1920s as "Kiangnan Dock and Engineering Works". In 1996 the yard became the state-owned, solely funded, "Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Company Limited". In August 2000, the Qiuxin Shipyard became a wholey owned subsidiary, although its name and identity will remain.

In the 1920s Kiangnan built six new river gunboats for the US Navy's South China Patrol on the Yangtze River.

hip building

The yard's main production is: liquefied gas carriers, car carriers, crude oil tankers, Panamax bulk carriers, Handymax bulk carriers, Lake suitable bulk carriers, multi-purpose cargo ships, and fast feeder container ships.

Recent specialised ships include:
* military (PLA Navy) - two Type 052C destroyers
* the space tracking ship "Yuan Wang"

The works are ISO 9001 accredited.

Building berths

The works' two building berths can build to :
* 275m x 40m - 80,000 DWT (deadweight tons)
* 242m x 24m - 35,000 DWT

Dry docks

Three dry docks have capacities between 3,000 and 80,000 DWT.

Assemblies

The works has 16 designated assembly areas with various capabilities.
