Burning Jeep Pin

The first story on the episode was identified as "Burning Jeep Pin." It took place on February 2, 1991 in Paso Robles, California. It featured Kim Potts, a 17-year-old girl who was driving home from work on a rainy day in her parents Jeep. In the car immediately behind her were Gordon and Jane Ortiz. Bonnie Hope was in the car behind the Ortizes - she knew Kim Potts personally.

Suddenly, the witnesses reported, a pickup truck "came out of nowhere" and hit the Jeep head on. Potts found herself pinned to the steering column of the Jeep as the doors were jammed shut. As the witnesses made futile attempts to open the doors, the Jeep burst into flames.

The witnesses attempted to wave down motorists, hoping that someone had a fire extinguisher. Bonnie attempted to call 911, but was unable to get through in the country, but she did manage to reach the

Meanwhile, Kim's parents were at home, waiting for their daughter to return, when they heard the sound of fire trucks passing by. Kim's mother worried it was her, and her father decided to check at the main road. Her parents were concerned because the amount of time it normally would have taken for Kim to return home had passed.

Felon Follow

The second story on the episode was identified as "Felon Follow." It took place on December 4, 1989 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

In the story, Jerry Mederith and his wife Donna were traveling along Merchant's Road in Knoxville when they saw a man in the parking lot of First Tennessee Bank [ [http://www.wbir.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=47527&catid=82 WBIR.com | Knoxville, TN | OUR STORIES: Remembering the dramatic and violent Inskip shootout ] ] waving frantically. As they passed, they noticed a white van pulling off quickly, and they suspected they had been witnessing the aftermath of a bank robbery. Soon after, the white van stopped, and they noticed a black Ford Tempo speeding out of the same location. The couple followed the Tempo on a street that ran parallel to the one in which the Tempo was traveling, but from where they could observe the Tempo. Finally, the Tempo pulled into another lot, where its occupants were observed by the couple switching into another vehicle, this time a white Volvo. The Merediths attempted to observe the suspects, hoping not to get noticed, from behind the adjacent building. When the suspects pulled out in the Volvo, the Merediths followed it to a house, identified by a WBIR news article as being on Inskip Road. The Merediths then hurried back to the bank in an attempt to alert officers to the location.

One police unit, the officer convinced by Jerry Meredith's story, followed the Merediths' vehicle (shown as a Lincoln Town Car) to the location where the robbers were believed to be, and other officers soon joined. The police cautiously approached the house. Using megaphones to order the occupants of the house to surrender, two suspects quickly exited. A third remained stubborn and kept the standoff going for several hours.

Officers on the scene learned information about the third suspect from the first two, who were cooperative. The were informed that there was no telephone in the house, and they were told about the number of guns and amount of ammunition the suspect had.

As police used tear gas in an attempt to force the suspect out, he began to fire at the officers. One officer was hit, but saved by his bulletproof vest. The suspect finally came out of the house after four hours with a gun pointed at himself. A sharpshooter shot the gun he was holding to his chest, thereby disarming him, and enabling him to be easily taken into custody.

The standoff was filmed by local media, and this footage was used in part of the story. The video of the sharpshooter disarming the suspect has also been shown on various cable programs on sharpshooting.

911 Heart O Glass

The third story on the episode was identified as "911 Heart O Glass." It took place on August 13, 1991 in Renton, Washington.

The story was of a girl who was injured running through a glass door. She was near death and did not heal at first. But after it was discovered that glass had penetrated her heart, surgery was performed, and she was able to return to normal health thereafter.
